Library Card: Residents of the Palmyra School District receive library cards at no charge with appropriate identification. The annual fee for residents living outside of the Palmyra School District is $35 per household. Residents of surrounding counties may also get a library card for $35. per year per household.
Check-Out: All library materials check-out for 21 days. Three renewals may be permitted. Materials that are on hold for another patron may not be renewed. Materials may also be renewed online. Holds may also be placed online.
-Overdue materials and fines: Fines are $.20 per day until the item(s) returned.
-One week after materials are due patrons may receive a notice by email, phone or letter.
-Two weeks after materials are due, a letter and bill for replacement costs will be sent to patron.
MOREnet Services: Through MOREnet we have access to research databases for students of all ages. We now also have access to ebooks and audiobooks. The ebooks and audiobooks are free and there is no waiting list to use them. Click on Online Resources to access these services.
Online Card Catalog: The Marion County Library Subdistrict # 1 is completely automated, and you may search for materials by title, subject, or author. The same searches are available through the website at http://marioncounty1.lib.mo.us
Interlibrary Loan: If a book you wish to read is not available at our library, we will borrow it from another library for you. The only fee is that you may be required to pay return postage.
Computers and Internet Service: The Marion County Library Subdistrict # 1 has 4 public computers equipped with Internet access. You must have your valid library card with you. Printing charges are: $.20 per page for black/white; $.40 per page for color.
Homebound Program: Please contact the library for the delivery of library materials on a regular basis to persons who are permanently or temporarily home-bound.
Story Time: Story Time takes place on Tuesday and Friday at 10:30am. Story Times are provided for children from babies to school age. During the summer, Story Time takes place Monday – Friday at different times each day. Summer Story Time is for toddlers through 8th grade. Fax Machine: The fax number is (573) 769-0405. The charge for sending a fax is $1.00 per page. The charge for receiving a fax is $0.25 per page.
Copy Machine: The Marion County Library Subdistrict # 1 has a copy machine for public use. Black and white copies are $0.20 per page, $0.35 for a two-sided copy. Color copies are $0.40 per page.
Microfilm Reader/Printing: For those doing research, there is a microfilm reader available for public use. It is possible to print from the microforms for $0.20 per page.
Large Print Books: The Library maintains a collection of Nonfiction and Fiction books in large print format.
EBooks and Audiobooks: The Library belongs to the Missouri Libraries 2 Go (Overdrive/Libby) and Grand River Library Consortium’s Axis 360 for downloadable eBooks and audiobooks. We also have Tumblebooks for children. Patrons will need a valid library card.
Hotspots & iPads: We now have portable electronic devices that you can check out for free and use at home. Ask a librarian how to check one out at the Circulation Desk.
Launchpads: In our Children’s Department, we offer literacy tablets for children ages 0-10. These tablets are loaded with learning apps that help children to comprehend math, English, and reading. Fun learning games are also included. Ask Ms. Molly on how to get yours!
Cake Pans: Located in our Teen Room, we added character cake pans to our collection. Take home one of these wacky and fun pans for your event. We have a dinosaur, unicorn, Mickey Mouse and so much more!
